Pretty Links integrates with MonsterInsights, the Google Analytics plugin, with no setup. When both plugins are active, they detect each other and begin cooperating automatically.
What You Get
URL Builder Handoff
MonsterInsights includes a Campaign URL Builder for entering a destination URL and UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign, and more). After you build the URL, a Create Pretty Link button appears in the URL Builder.
Click it, and a new Pretty Links form opens with the URL and UTMs already filled in. Add a slug and save. No retyping or copy-pasting is required.
Click Tracking in Your Analytics
Every Pretty Links redirect feeds into MonsterInsights automatically. Pretty link clicks appear alongside the rest of your site activity, in the dashboard you already check.
This keeps shortlink performance and site analytics in one place.
Add-Ons Menu Shortcut
MonsterInsights has its own Addons page. When Pretty Links is active, that page shows a card linking directly to the Pretty Links manager.
Onboarding Bypass
On first activation, Pretty Links normally opens a short setup wizard. When you arrive from the MonsterInsights URL Builder, Pretty Links skips the wizard and opens the create-link form with your data prefilled.
Setup
The integration needs no configuration. Activate both plugins:
- Install and activate MonsterInsights (any tier).
- Install and activate Pretty Links.
- Open the MonsterInsights URL Builder, enter a URL with UTMs, and click Create Pretty Link.
The integration runs whenever both plugins are active.
When to Use It
This integration helps if:
- You use MonsterInsights for site analytics and want pretty link click data beside the rest of your traffic;
- You build many UTM-tagged campaign URLs and want to skip the copy-paste step;
- You manage marketing in the MonsterInsights dashboard and want pretty link reporting there.
Without MonsterInsights, Pretty Links still provides its own built-in tracking and reports.
Handoff Time Limit
The handoff passes the URL and UTMs through your browser’s local storage, which expires after 10 minutes. If you build a URL, wait longer than that, then click Create Pretty Link, the form opens empty.
If that happens, return to the URL Builder and click the button again, or paste the URL into the Pretty Links form manually.
Tier Requirements
The MonsterInsights integration is a core Pretty Links (Lite) feature. Any tier of MonsterInsights works with it.
